Cal hesitates for a moment longer, then plunges ahead. Because if it was for real, then Sherlock would have seen it and maybe just hasn't said anything, and if he didn't then it wasn't and Cal can stop worrying about it. Either way, he's not going to end up making Sherlock worry for no reason - that, he has to admit, is just an excuse to justify not saying anything. Which he should.
